SWIMMING
If wild swimming in our region's bountiful lakes and waterfalls doesn't appeal, other options include the indoor pool in Appleby and a substantial leisure centre in Penrith, for the more adventurous there is a heated outdoor pool at Lazonby.
Appleby Leisure Centre is next to the river Eden in Appleby. It provides leisure facilities for Appleby and the Upper Eden area.
In 1992 the Leisure Centre replaced the open air war memorial swimming pool with an indoor pool and gym.
Penrith Leisure Centre has a fully fitted fitness gym, studios and various classes to join, as well as several pools.

Lazonby is a heated open-air swimming pool and camp site, situated besides the River Eden, 8 miles north east of Penrith.

It includes a 17m x 8m heated pool (26ºC) plus toddler pool, with fountain.
