Rutter Force sits roaring next to an old mill in the Eden River catchment near Appleby-in-Westmorland and not to forget Teasdale's majestic High Force Waterfall.

Windermere in the Lake District is England's largest lake, it's 10.5 miles long, that's just over 18 km, and at its deepest point is 219 feet, that's 66.7 m.

Windermere is also the name of a small town, which lies just over a mile from the lake shore. It's separate from the town of Bowness-on-Windermere, which is one of the busiest place along the shoreline and the main jetties for cruise boats.

Ambleside is one of the most popular towns in the Lake District, sitting at the north end of Windermere lake its a great place to start some of the best know fell walks.

Aysgarth Falls are three stepped waterfalls that have been a tourist attraction for over 200 years.

Wordsworth visited them and Turner sketched them. More recently they provided a dramatic setting for a scene from the Hollywood movie Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.

The Eden catchment is full of spectacular waterfalls but one of the most beautiful is Rutter Force near Appleby-in-Westmorland.

Next to the waterfall is a picturesque old mill that was once used to grind corn before being converted to manufacture bobbins. It later served as a sawmill.

High Force, England’s biggest waterfall, spectacularly drops 70 feet (21m) into a plunge pool below.

The woodland walk leads you to this breathtaking sight. The muffled rumble suddenly turns to a roar and the sight astounds you. The waterfall walk must be treated with care and children should be supervised at all times.

There is a picnic area and parking available.
